Dr. Yaniris Avellanet

Dr. Yaniris R. Avellanet was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She completed undergraduate and graduate schools at Georgetown University, Washington D.C. in Psychology, Languages, and Biology, and Biotechnology, respectively.  Her medical education was completed at Universidad Central del Caribe in Bayamón, PR.  Her post-graduate training in Obstetrics and Gynecology was completed at University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus, University District Hospital, while also performing research in Female Sexual Dysfunction, which she still conducts.  She completed a Fellowship in Advanced Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Also, she completed a Fellowship in General Cosmetic Surgery in Little Rock, Arkansas.  She started studies in Human Sexuality to complete a Master’s Degree in Public Health and a PhD, which she is still completing.  Currently she has an appointment as Professor Adjunct of the OBGYN Department at the Medical Sciences Campus, University of Puerto Rico.  In private practice in Puerto Rico, she performed Advanced Laparoscopic Gynecologic Surgery and Female Genital Cosmetic Surgery.
